i know, im posting this everywhere, but want to get a good idea of wear and tear. Cheesy

please reply only if you own and have played frequently with one. and this goes for any and all half block/mid block guns. catapults, raced, turtle, homemade, whatever.

i just recently mid-blocked my cocker, although havent had a chance to really put it to the test (field). i knew beforehand of the possibilities of debris getting into the lower chamber. i desinged my mid block to try and eliminate this as much as possible. my question is, has anybody actually checked out there lower chamber, to see if any damage has been done? or had to disassemble and clean, unusually more than you should have to, because of debris getting into the lower chamber?

thanks

I'm going to quote the reply I made to you on AIR, to keep the information in this thread too.

Quote
I've checked it out recently when I put the mQ in my turtle, i didn't notice any undue wear from debris. There isn't like a huge gaping hole there regardless, because the hammer occludes some of the slot at just about all times, as does the backblock/sled.

But I will tell you what does cause some wear -- the hammer itself. Since it is cocked from one edge, it tends to wear the body in one particular area on one side of the tube. I didn't notice a ridge but the anno had taken some wear. I don't think it would have caused problems until way down the road though, if ever.

I should note that I don't play very "dirty" -- e.g. I don't dive gun-first into sandy bunkers, but I also don't baby it and I do play on some sandy/loose dirt-y fields. I do occasionally crawl, slide and/or scramble in these areas, and the gun will sometimes get dirt/sand on it. If you do get dirt in the lower tube (you can see in the slot of the hammer when things get in there), take it apart and clean it out. It's pretty easy with halfblock bodies.

All in all it's not a make-or-break concern. But you may want to pay a bit more attention to it than you would with a fullbodied cocker.
