So I just got a gram scale and am going nuts weighing various paintball parts, and I got the idea that I should publish the numbers I come up with for posterity here. So I started a content article listing these items for your information. Anyone with a gram scale of their own is welcome to contribute, just post in this thread and I'll catalog the parts. Please be specific in describing the parts, especially if they are custom.

A couple of ground rules:
1. Digital scales are preferred but analog scales are accepted as well. Please note if a measure is taken with an analog scale.

2. Please only post current weights, i.e. weights you know are accurate, not some weight you may have done years ago, you think ...

Turtle Cocker Delrin Bolt (nylon ball, steel set screw) 18.9 Grams

Turtle Aluminum Pump Arm (Newest Turtle Design) - 5.5 Grams

Turtle Sled Style Delrin Back Block (Newest turtle design) - 4.9 Grams

Turtle Cocker Pull Pin (delrin with steel pin) ~ 8.6 Grams (mQ size)

Custom Mini Length CCM pump arm (For half block cocker - w/ added internal steel screw to prevent breakage) - 5.8 Grams

Custom Delrin Pull Pin (Slik style, for mQ-valved half block) - 1.2 Grams

Custom Ti Half Block Pull Pin (similar to Z-Force?) - 5.7 Grams

Full length Aluminum CCM Pump Arm - 10.3 Grams

Full Length Steel CCM Pump Arm (aluminum Coupler) - 26.7 Grams

Mini Length Steel Pump Arm - 19.2 Grams

Slik Pull Pin - 1.6 Grams (used for reference)

Steel WGP Stock Pull Pin - 15.3 Grams (as much as Sliks new bolt!!  Ahh!)

MPP Ram with Eclipse QEV's - 43.7 Grams

WGP Delrin Bolt (worrblade) - 44.3 Grams

MacDev Ti Cocking Rod (old School) - 11.3 Grams

Chunk Of Aluminum Removed for Mini Conversion - 36.4 Grams (+ material the mill took off after initial band saw cut)

Chunk Of aluminum Removed for half block Conversion - 69.3 Grams (+ Milled Material)

Doing some math, If using all new off-the-shelf half block parts (Ti pull pin, delrin sled, non mini aluminum pump arm, delrin bolt), Turtle cockers have a reciprocating mass of 35 grams.

Recalculating the SLIK reciprocating mass by removing the cocking rod weight, and adding the weight of a full length aluminum pump arm (CCM is as light as the rest of them), they have a reciprocating mass of 32.9 grams.  Impressive.  I was wrong.  Props to SLIK.

One thing to keep note of.  If someone is NOT using the aluminum pump arm in either case, the result shifts greatly.  Loosing 1/3 of a steel pump arm looses almost 7 grams!  In which case, the half block would have the advantage.  Adding the weight of the cocking rod is pointless.  If we want to do that, then Half Block has the advantage, because there is no cocking rod.  But that isn't fair, now is it?  They need to make a note somewhere saying that their claimed reciprocating mass is lighter than turtle cockers if assuming you use an aluminum pump arm.

NOW... for MY personal midgeted mini half block.  Total reciprocating mass is only 30.8 grams including the pump arm.  Take that SLIK! Wink  Just wait till I make my Nylatron bolt.. estimated weight of 12.5 grams! Wink

I was just thinking ... it would seem to me that the cocking rod needs to be included somehow in the figures for the Slik stuff. I mean at least for part of the cycle, that weight is part of the reciprocating mass. Surely that can slow the cycle down? Maybe a .5 factor would weight it properly.

Well, then again, you would have to subract it from the hammer weight of the half blocks.  There is no true way to do it as you would have to increase springing, which would decrease cycle times, or increase valve springing, or put a heavier or lighter hammer, or...  SO many variables that it almost becomes negligible in terms of cycling rate.

More simply, as you discussed earlier, if you decrease the hammer weight, you will need to increase your IVG setting ever so slightly, that in turns requires more force from your ram, with the same pressure, requires a higher con setting and increases cycle time.  But then, the reduced weight of the hammer does other things which decrease cycle time... Too many things to think about this late at night Wink

I think you have proven one thing though ... the Slik claim that current halfblock setups "don't even come close" is no longer true, and in some instances is not true at all.

Hey did you know that Bushmaster 2k bolts fit in turtles?

No, sorry, I don't but I tried it and it fits, and the port seems to be in the same location.
