Hiya, I'm new on here, the pictures on this site actually encouraged me to make a custom cocker myself so I thought I'd pay homage by joining up Cheesy
I hope this site is still fairly active?

Here's my cocker

That ram setup is similar to the one done by TX tuning, only perhaps a better approach.  It would be cool to see this approach adapted further to incorporate a custom front block to mount different types of rams.

I don't mean to speak for him, but the pros basically are no pump arm, which reduces the weight of the moving parts.  It also doesn't require the small "S" curve that is bent into most pump arms to bring them closer to the side of the body.  The curve kind of places a bind on the ram which can increase friction.

The biggest downside I see to his setup as it is right now is that he could only mount 1 QEV onto his ram.  Outside of that, it's an extremely nice cocker and I give it 2 thumbs up.

I chose that ram setup for a few reasons really, innitially i was going to use a large system x lpr as a foregrip, with a macroline fitting going directly from a 300-400 psi bottle reg into the body of the gun infront of the trigger gaurd, and I was going to mount the solenoid in the frame with a tray type spacer and a little manifold, so there would have been nothing coming out from the front of the gun, but in the end I decided I'd rather have a longer gun than a higher one for the sake of keeping the weight of the hopper low, so i just used the frontblock as usual.
plus it looks pretty awesome and like Dees troy said it has its advantages Tongue
It was quite a simple conversion really, just had to use a round file to take some meat off the body and thread  the other end of the rammer.
I've got room fit two QEV's but they would have to both be differnt threads.

Its just a standard ram, nothing special, I may put something better on there if i have any trouble but to be honest I think a standard ram even with no QEV's should be plenty quick enough with such a light and friction free cocking mass.
I've never posted it up on PBN but a friend of mine who plays on my team actually made one similar a year or so ago, but went for a slightly different approach here's his ===> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a183/snberry/Halfblock/DSCF0162.jpg he called it the no-blocker for obvious reasons Cheesy he had to actually make ram mounts for his which proved quite difficult, he found if the ram wasnt perfectly aligned (and I mean perfectly) the ram shaft would break at the thread, which is one of the reasons why I used the block to mount it.

No that's not it, now that I think about it the one on PBN was a superbolt(or thunder bolt....eitehr way a cheap one) but it had the same ram placement and color.

After a few months of using it I'll prolly get bored and decide to make it really light but for now im happy with it as is, ultimately I'll prolly lathe the lpr right down because that has far more meat than needed and take some off the frontblock, but its still 5 oz's lighter than a shocker. What do most halfblocks weigh in at?

I'm not sure which make it was, I got it off a friend who couldnt be arsed to use it, but there is no visible surface of the original body left, I milled and filed it down loads to take the weight down.

I dont know how much you could take of with a standard valve/hammer arrangement since I never had the components to make a standard halfblock.
